A current hot topic that will leap into 2014 is the airfare war between Thai AirAsia and Lion Air's new operation in the Kingdom.
One of the first battlefields is the Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Chiang Mai.
Other key domestic short-term destinations are Krabi and Hat Yai.
Lion has already stated in the market that it is looking to drive business volumes on a pricing strategy.
Low-cost airline carriers continue to re-write the Asian travel map.
