Airbnb Taps Luxury Segment

Global online accommodation icon Airbnb has pushed forward into the luxury market with an offered tagged as Airbnb Luxe.

Targeting both resort and urban products, the group has said last year, that listings of properties that have rates over USD1,000 a night grew by 60%.

In 2017, the group acquired Luxury Retreats which effectively fast-tracked their entry to the upper-tier.

Meanwhile Thai hospitality group Dusit International, which acquired luxury villa specialist Elite Havens in 2018, is expanding their guest recognition program Dusit Gold to cover rental villas.
