AIRLINE UPDATE Thai Smile Turns To Frown

Category: Tourism, Posted:06 Mar 2013 | 06:00 am

The ill-fated journey of the airline launch of Thai Smile looks to take a left-turn with plans being revealed to shelve the low-cost model.
The airline is now into Plan B mode and looking to regional under-carriers such as Silk Air as a role model.
Thai Airways is understood to be looking at creating a separate operating entity for the airline.
One of the biggest issues faced by the carrier was it was neither a LCC (low-cost carrier) not did if offer premium seating in business class. The later was a half-baked solution at having similar seating to economy and simply no passenger next to premium customers.
Whatever the outcome, it's back to the drawing board for Thai Smile.
