Asean Summit Rescheduled for Phuket in June
International opinion and foreign investor's confidence in the country look to be on the mend with the proposed rescheduling of the recently suspended Asean Summit to Phuket according to Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Pollabutr. The first Summit was disrupted in a political clash between anti-government demonstrators and the police in Pattaya which spilled over to Bangkok over a week ago.
As many close observers have pointed out that Thaksin may have won the battle in Pattaya but subsequently lost the war in Bangkok with the galvanizing of public opinion against the former Prime Minister.
Phuket will be on the world stage this June as will the credibility of Prime Minister Abhisit's government. It's rumored that the event will take place at one of the luxury hotels in Laguna Phuket though no official announcement has been made as of yet.
