Bali And Singapore Gain From Thailand Downturn
The tourist scales of choice rise and fall as recent political issues in Thailand have seen other regional destinations benefit from the nations woes. Tourism official in Bali are expecting to see the 3 million mark breached, up from 2.6 million in 2009.
While according to reports in the Singapore Straits Times April saw 938,000 visitors into the island republic, which tallied in as the 5th consecutive record setting month. Korean carrier Asiana is said to be dropping its Bangkok to Singapore flight and adding in more direct flights from Seoul to Singapore, fueled by increasing demand.
Interesting is that Thailand outbound to Singapore has been fueled by domestic Thai's electing to go overseas with over a 57% increase over the same period last year. The Singapore Tourism Board has targeted growth projections in excess of 12 million visitors in 2010.
