Bamboozled In Bali

A quick and informative read had me gleaning all things Bamboo in the simply sensational Hello Bali magazine.
Down in the Island of the Gods Linda Garland, who's Ubud estate was featured in the sloppy Hollywood movie Eat Pray Love set up the Environmental Bamboo Foundation in 1993.
At her estate had bungalows constructed entirely of bamboo and recycles wood along with locally sourced alang-alang.
Living and breathing structures made from bamboo the evergreen forests create positive levels of C02 and help put the brakes on global warming.
The piece written by Peter Stephenson goes on to talk about other Bali green pioneers like John and Cynthia Hardy, the Green School by PT Bamboo Pure.
While Phuket designers seem to view bamboo as a cultural throwback to the day's of the island cottage backpacking legacy perhaps its time to take a second look at the varied uses of one of natures most versatile green products.
