Breaking News Phuket to Bangkok Flights Operating as Usual

Category: Tourism, Posted:13 Apr 2009 | 10:42 am

Visiting Phuket International Airport this morning thephuketinsider confirmed that flights between Phuket and Bangkok were operating as usual despite the Thai Governments Declaration of a State of Emergency in the nations capital late yesterday. Speaking to Thai Airways staff as well as other airlines there has been no disruption of scheduled flights. Anyone have flights though is being advised to call ahead and reconfirm fight times.
Airport traffic was brisk, as in discussions with tourists a number were bringing their departure dates forward as they had concerns the situation in Bangkok could worsen and they expressed anxiety about possibly being unable to get back home. The Songkran and Easter holidays mark the end of tourism's high season and there remains much speculation about low season prospects.
As the island swings into Thai New Year celebration mode there is little evidence of any political actions locally though many Thai's are watching events unfold on TV as the Government and protestors look to be headed on a collision course.
