CityCenter's Viva Green Vegas
Imagine rolling down the Las Vegas Strip in a convertible, with Elvis blaring Vivaish theme song thundering out and the only thoughts of green you might have are the endless rows of felt lined gambling tables. Enter this month the 18-millon-square foot CityCenter with its array of hotels, residences, retail and of course gambling.
What's remarkable about the development it its status as Las Vegas's premier LEED Gold Award project. Examples of sustainability include stretch limousines powered by natural gas, slot machines with bases that act as air con's thus saving on circulation energy use; sustainably harvest wood products, waste heat regeneration used for domestic hot water and large scale recycling of 260,000 tons of construction waste.
It's a great coup for Las Vegas, but the question has to arise if they can do it why can't Phuket who has so much more nature to loose if action is not taken?
