In what is considered by many aviation experts to be the land of flying dangerously, a Trigana Air ATR turbo prop plane carrying five crew and 47 passengers safely landed in a Indonesian rice field in Borneo. No bystanders or water buffalo were hurt in the accident, though two passengers apparently sustained injuries.
In recent years the European Union (EU) had a two year ban on all Indonesian air carriers though this was lifted in mid 2009, which has paved the way for national carrier Garuda to expand overseas.
