Category: Tourism, Posted:07 Jun 2013 | 09:38 am

The island is buzzing or should we say shifting gears over news in the Bangkok Post that Phuket is in the running for a Formula 1 race in 2015.
Thailand's Tourism and Sports Minister Somsak Phurisisak who has actively been gathering support for the race in the country said that early plans to host the race in Bangkok that would traverse Rattanakosin Island and areas near the Grand Palace has met with series objections from local groups.
He has named Phuket, Khon Kaen and Nakhon Ratchasima as possible alternative options.
It's understood F1's Bernie Ecclestone has agreed in principal to a Thai event but that a deal has not yet be inked according to the media.
Red Bull is a large-scale motorsports supporter and certainly are flying the Thai flag to get the international event to the Kingdom.
