Gekko Dispatched to Find Thaksin

Category: Tourism, Posted:04 Sep 2009 | 06:31 am

Our readers may notice the somewhat sudden disappearance of thephuketinsider 'gekko' from our website masthead. No doubt some explanation is required. We'd like to advise that our gekko has been sent on a special assignment to interview former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. With conflicting reports rolling in with sightings ranging from Fiji, Hong Kong, Dubai and Nicaragua apparently his current whereabouts remain unknown.
Known for his keen investigative skills, studious attention to detail as well as sharp sense of humor, we have provided our ace report with an arsenal of survival tools including a copy of Jack Kerouac's 'On the Road', Swiss army knife and an iPod shuffle.
We aren't quite sure if and when the gekko will return to Phuket as a second assignment is emerging with tabloid reports hitting the airwaves about the theft of Michael 'Wacko Jacko' Jackson's nose disappearing from the Los Angeles city coroner's office. Reports have filtered in that missing nose was seen with three Swedes partying in nearby Koh Lanta.
With the gekko hitting the road we've taken the opportunity to update the site a bit, hopefully simplifying things in order to make the site easier on the eyes, adding some key feature and also launching our new The Green Report section dedicated to improving Phuket's all important environment.
Despite our reporting going undercover in a Serpico state of undercover ops, he may be checking in with us from time to time. As for now bon voyage senor Gekko.
