Good News for the Coming High Season as Jetstar Asia Recommence
Good news for the coming high season as Jetstar Asia will recommence twice daily direct Phuket – Singapore flights in mid December. The airline had previously flown to the resort island, but discontinued services amidst growing competition with Tiger, SilkAir and AirAsia coupled with the economic slowdown.
Jetstar Australia services direct Sydney – Phuket flights; and competition is on the rise now with Virgin Blue's V Australia affiliate set to fly the route within this year. The increase in airlift from the Singapore Asian hub of Jetstar is important as it feeds both long haul Australian travelers to Phuket but more importantly links with a growing regional base of business which provide tourists throughout the year.
With Phuket trends reverting to a more seasonal arrival pattern over the past 24 months, attracting short haul visitors who fill in the gaps of the traditional European high season the impact on annual hotel occupancies is a clear key benefit.
