Good Night Naithon Beach
Houdini is fast at work on the island and north to south east to west prime beach areas are under the gun of hotel and residential developers. One of Phuket less crowded and most scenic beaches Naithon looks set to experience dramatic growth over the next few years. In the past Trisara and Andaman White Beach Resort framed a lovely area living on the fringes, and more recently Pearl of Naithon and Naitonburi went straight to the heart of the matter across from the beach road.
With the announcement of the 280-key Pullman hotel project at the north end of the beach, the area which previously rolled up its shops in low season and took to looking a bit like Khao Lak in May; the sleepiness looks to be at an end. Malaiwana is continuing to expand their luxury villas and reportedly are still possibly looking to add high end condos and a beach club. Over at Istana development is now fully in play.
Word now is in the wind that a second hotel near to the Pullman is being planned which would take up most of the remaining open land on the beach road. This leaves redevelopment of the existing units on the main road in a Surin type model and the valley in back that has some similarities to Kamala.
While death and taxes remain two of lifes certainly, it's safe to assume that going forward finding some open space on Naithon beach is going to be an equal challenge.
