Hat Yai Airlift Changing

Airlift into the southern Thai city of Hat Yai is undergoing a dramatic shift.
First is news that Thai Airways International will not longer fly to the destination as of March 30th, but will expand flight services on Thai Smile.
Second is that new carrier Thai Lion Air will use Hat Yai as a feeder hub for regional flights to Hua Hin, Surat Thani, Medan and Malaysia's Subang.
The feeder strategy has seen widespread success from AirAsia with its rising growth in connecting up a series of smaller destinations into a larger picture
Thai Airways is continuing it lose ground to the low-cost airline carriers as are almost all of Asia's legacy brands.
