HOTEL FUTURE DESIGN Tech Vs. Green

Category: Hotels, Posted:22 Mar 2012 | 06:00 am

It's almost a battle of the superheroes, which leads to an endless line of instantly forgotten sequels but which trend is hotel design is more relevant in the year 2012.
Is it green or is it tech?
I inhaled an opinion on the subject on the Hotels blog by Peter Joehnk today.
Invariably international hotel chains and leading designers are caught in crossfire of pleasing an increasingly wired traveling world with a balance towards sustainability.
Certainly the onslaught of don't'change my towels on a remarkably un-green tent card in hotel bathrooms to today's dedicated CSR executive and LEED certifications.
Do these matter to guests? More probably yes, no and maybe.
The article points out how hotels often sell a pampering experience and just how far to the edge of discomfort at they willing to go?
Perhaps the same applies to budget driven hotel developers where costs of going green remain a premium.
Does anyone see the light or more important should the light be on in the first place. It's confusing and unfortunately remains one of the industry's great mysteries.
