Indonesia Chases Thailand's Mass Tourism Market
Making ASEAN news last week is the Indonesian government's approval of visa-free travel for forty-five countries.
Five Indonesian international airports allowing entry are located in Jakarta, Bali, Surabaya, Batam and Medan.
The countries allowed include China, Russia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, United States and an number of European countries such as Germany, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Australia which is Bali's number one international market is not on the list.
Bali which is Phuket's main regional tourism competitor this month has seen direct flights from the Middle East by Emirates commence service.
