Indonesian low-cost carrier Lion Air has announced the setting up of a Thai subsidiary.
Thai Lion Air is looking to duplicate the success of AirAsia's successful joint venture in the Kingdom.
It's been reported in the media that Lion will use Don Mueang as a base for domestic and regional flights.
Lion has been making news lately first with its record setting Boeing order and recently after a crash in Bali.
What is clear is that airlines unlike other tourism businesses are ahead of the strategic curve of the upcoming AEC initiative in 2015 allowing free trade with ASEAN.
