InterContinental Brand Coming To Phuket
One of the world's largest hotel chains InterContinental have announced a 240 key property in Rawai Phuket.
Formerly owned and operated by Six Senses as the Evason along with Bon Island, the hotel is undergoing a significant upgrade and expansion under the guidance of designer Bill Bensley.
An opening date for the East Coast property in 2014 is in the works.
The legacy property which started life as the Phuket Island Resort was sold earlier in the year to a group affiliated to Singapore's L.C. Development; which is also a significant shareholder in the Holiday Inn Patong.
Phuket's East Coast is seeing a vibrant surge in its upscale hospitality market with the recent opening of the Regent Cape Panwa and next year's debut of Point Yamu by Como.
With the IHG property moving in, there is renewed speculation over the nearby site in Laem Ka Rawai owned by Singapore hotel giant HPL and a Lehman's subsidiary which had been touted to be a Four Seasons.
