Internet TV Headed To Thai Hotels?
I just love acronyms and of course on that's on fire these days is IPTV or more correctly internet protocol television.
Picking up a Bangkok Post a few weeks ago news comes that two Thai providers are rolling out offerings.
First is Cubic Associates Group in conjunction with TOT (that's a state enterprise) and V.R.M. VoizPlus.
Taking a quick breather, perhaps both need some work on catchier brand names.
But to the gist of things is this is new territory for those Mad Admen. Unlike other broadcast channels the IPTV mode allows for ad based services.
Both systems use box top sets but the system really starts to get interesting when you see that you can not only use TV's but iPads, and mobile devices.
Certainly it's game on for the industry, which without a doubt will become a dominant player over the next few years. A key challenge remains for old school satellite and cable providers.
For hotels, the question now becomes, when do you start planning to implement the next big thing in guest room entertainment?
