Is A Casino On Phuket's Horizon?
Making news over the past few weeks has been a growing groundswell in Thailand's public and private sector over the possibility of allowing gaming into the country.
Perhaps the most rationale stance to date has been that of the country's national police chief who has been positive on the possible allowance of casinos
His argument is that Thai's love to game and the reality is it's a better option to legalize activity versus seeing the proliferation and policing of illegal venues.
The same goes for all of the cross border casinos in Cambodia and Lao, which remain popular for gamblers from Thailand.
While the NCPO has yet to officially weigh in on the issue, the police chief is said to be putting up a website that will gather public opinion on the matter.
The three locations most mentioned in reports on the possible legalization process are Pattaya, Ubon Ratchathani and Phuket.
As for where on this island a casino would be houses, that's certainly sure to gather conjecture in the day's ahead.
