Category: Tourism, Posted:03 Apr 2009 | 07:53 am

The expansion of the regions LCC (low cost airlines) continues back of an announcement by the Jin Air's CEO Kim Jae-kun on flights to Bangkok starting in October. Expansion plans will be up to 16 destinations in North and Southeast Asia on line by 2011. Jin is the under carrier of Korean Air.
Asia's continues to see expansion of the LCC's with Singapore's budget terminal is currently expanding passenger capacity from 2.7 million up to 7 million and a new similar facility is already open in Kuala Lumpur. Phuket continues to thrive on service from Tiger and AirAsia, with the later recently announcing the intention to use the island's international airport as a regional hub.
Korea remains an important tourism market for Thailand and greater airlift is a positive given the current doom and gloom in long haul markets, short haul tourism is key to providing stability to Asia's resort destinations.
