Major Phuket Sports Event Reinstated

Category: Tourism, Posted:22 Oct 2016 | 15:01 pm

After a cancellation notice went out for the Laguna Phuket Triathlon 2016, the iconic sporting event will now push through.

Set for Sunday November 20th, a notice was issued during the week that the triathlon was canceled.

On the heels of an onslaught of complaints on social media by participants who had committed travel, hotel and other resources, the organizers have decided to go ahead with this year’s race.

This annual event is one of the longest established international sporting events in the country and is a significant draw card for Phuket.

Both the Phuket Provincial Office and Ministry of Tourism are supportive, though both have requested the event remain respectful after the recent passing of the King.
