MYTHBUSTER Email Disclaimer
For those of you who routinely receive emails from large corporate entities and the sign off with a legal disclaimer is most often larger then the actual message, you might be in for a surprise.
According to a recent article in the leading publication The Economist concludes that there are no reliable court cases in the US showing the disclaimers have resulted in successful litigation.
A similar point was made in the E.U. based on consumer rights.
Bottom line is the practice seems to be based on doing what everyone else is doing and protected yourself.
As for the countless tress that are cut down in the course of people printing out emails that include these disclaimers – now that's a crime.
