NEWS ALERT Second Phuket Airport Development Announced
A multinational Thai-Korean consortium have announced plans for a second airport to be developed on the leading resort island destination of Phuket. Given the recent surge in tourism and the current international airport hitting capacity, plan's were unveiled for the new venture at a lavish launch party held onboard the super yacht HMS Kim-n-chee in Chalong Bay.
Plans call for a 3 kilometer elevated runaway (similar to the popular BTS Skytrain in Bangkok) which will be constructed atop the growing number of shop houses in the islands tourism epi-center Rawai. A new international terminal is being fast tracked at the recently closed Don's Mall in the heart of the bustling community. Direct flights from nearly Trang (one of Thailand's leading destinations and now known as Greater Krabi) will commence as early as next Tuesday.
EDITORS NOTE In response to a growing furor from our readers on more details, thephuketinsider.com has learned in an exclusive that the joint venture Korean partners have pulled funding over a linguistic or translation error. Somehow it was understood the airport was to be built in Hawaii, and not Rawai.
For those just awaking from a coma – it's April 1st.
