Pattaya's THB15 Billion Green Initiative
Pattaya's local administration is looking to re-develop the destination into a greenovative (this is their word and I'm not entirely sure if it is even a real term) city.
Over the past few years in cooperation with DASTA (Designated Are for Sustainable Tourism Administration) has been funding the initiative.
According to an article in the Nation newspaper the "THB15 billion Greenovative (there's that word again) Tourism City Plan earmarks 132 projects including developing transportation and tourism attractions. It aims to declare Pattaya a green and clean city in 10 years. "
Ambitious? Yes. Political. Yes.
But looking at the details there is meat on the bone so to say. A detailed master plan includes Marine Areas, Urban Areas, Cultural Areas and Nature Areas. Upgrading public utilities are also targeted.
So Phuket where is our master plan? Looks like our island hit the snooze button by accident and can't find a way to turn it off. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz .
