Phuket and Beyond, A Brief Friday Hotel Update
In Phuket, Wyndham Vacation Resorts has signed a deal to manage the 50-key Zenmaya Oceanfront in Kalim. The property will be under the Trademark Collection by Wyndham. There are synergies for the hotel given it is located across a main coastal road from the Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay.
Regional carrier Myanmar Airways International (MAI) is launching direct flights between Yangon and Phuket. The service is twice a week. The resort island has a large base of migrant workers from Myanmar.
Moving to other locations in Thailand, the 194-key Blue Lotus in Pranburi has been converted to management by Wyndham. Previously (part of the property only) branded to Evason under Six Senses and will now be named Wyndham Hua Hin Pranburi Resort and Villas. The other adjacent hotel that was the Evason Hideaway is now managed by Sheraton.
Looking at Khao Lak the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa has expanded with 127 new units, so the property now has 420 keys. In addition, a second property named the JW Marriott Khao Lak Suites is being clustered with the main resort.
Also in Phang Nga in Natai, the Aleenta Phuket Resort and Spa has been granted a medical license in connection with the expansion of its wellness offerings and positioning as an integrative wellness facility.
