Phuket Branded Pearl In Corruption Scandal

Category: Tourism, Posted:24 Oct 2013 | 06:00 am

As of late I've been reading articles from major news sources about the Singapore corruption scandal over Glenn Defense Marine Asia.
Allegations that the civilian contractor defrauded the US Navy with bribes include sex, entertainment offerings and more.
Most of the press reports make reference to "pearl ports" such as Phuket where fall documents and invoices could be conjured up.
Certainly none of this does much good for the Phuket brand and it's unfortunate that the island is being referenced in an event which actually was triggered by a Singapore-based company and individuals.
While it's been said no press is bad press, this certainly is not the case in this instance.
