Phuket Elephant Conservation Sanctuary Hits Home

During a recent Phuket Hotels Association meeting one of the leading presentations was from the founders of the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary.

Project Director  Louise Rogerson showed a dramatic video of the dark side impact of elephant training, shows and attractions had on these gentle giants.

Located in  the Pa Klok area on the East Coast the sanctuary is providing  rehabilitation, rescue and a care facility for aging elephants.

The facility also provides an ethical approach for tourists  to see the animals in their natural habitat without of the cruelty of chaining them up, prodding to perform tricks or other abuses.

There is little doubt the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary is a bright light for Phuket’s Tourism sector.
