Phuket Private Jet Terminal Delay Costing Island Business

Category: Tourism, Posted:09 Feb 2012 | 06:00 am

A knock on effect from the delay in the upgrade of Phuket International Airport may see private jets shift to Chiang Mai.
Recent comments by Minor's Mjets elaborated that slow progress on the bidding process for a build and operate concession on the island for private aircraft may push them to another airport.
Not only is the lack of progress on the improvements in Phuket's gateway causing travelers at immigration and check in counters long lines but now it's set to hit commercial sector.
AoT (Airports of Thailand) is keen to increase traffic into the northern airport of Chiang Mai.
An announcement was made recently that Phuket's airport expansion program will not be completed until 2015.
