Phuket's Club Med Battles For Beach

Longtime legacy Phuket hotel Club Med remains stuck in a public controversy over a strip of beachfront land connected to the resort.
A 30 year lease with the Karon Municipality that commences in 1985 is set to expire next year according to a report in the Phuket Gazette.
Pressure by local groups looks set to take the matter to public hearings.
One of the triggers of the dispute has been the partial erection of fencing by the resort along some of the prime ocean front areas.
