Leading UK economy hotel group Whitbread with their Premier Inn brand has made headlined recently over an announcement they are withdrawing from India and Southeast Asia.
According to the Telegraph the new Chief Executive Alison Brittain has initiated a strategic change to re-focus on the UK, Germany and Middle East.
The group’s assets in Asia are three properties in India, two in Indonesia and one in Thailand.
For now the region has one less economy hotel chain and Ms. Brittain added that the cost of moving out of their portfolio here is not significant.
