Prime Minister Opens New Phuket International Airport Terminal
Thailand’s Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday officially opened the new terminal at Phuket International Airport.
Handling capacity has been effectively doubled and the move allows for the re-development of the old terminal into a domestic facility.
According to the Bangkok Post Prayut spoke at length about removing the taxi mafia both at the Phuket airport but also in Bangkok’s gateway Suvarnabhumi.
On the same day, the Prime Minister spoke at another event promoting Phuket as one of the country’s pilot SMART Cities which will feature a strong information and technology backbone.
Other initiatives include being part of super clusters for international medical services, food proceeding and digital innovation.
For Phuket this month is a significant milestone in progress given the airport opening and announcement of the near 12-land expressway for the island.
Investment is continuing into infrastructure and that is a positive sign on the horizon.
