Category: Tourism, Posted:11 Jul 2009 | 10:17 am

Back of the Security Act of Thailand a 5 km radius perimeter has been set by the Government around the Laguna Phuket area to be enforced from July 10-24th. With Laguna Phuket planing host to the ASEAN Foreign Ministers meeting and high profile diplomats including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton attending, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva is taking no chances.
Roll back the calendar to the negative publicity of the disrupted summit in Pattaya and ensuing melee in the streets of Bangkok and there is indeed ample cause for concern by the Democrat led Government. Local citizen have been supportive of the security measures not unlike post 9/11 Homeland Security measures which while caused inconvenience, where viewed on a larger scale of importance.
