SIX YEAR ITCH Garuda Indonesia Back To Europe
While complaints continue to mount about Thai Airways International receding service standard and aging products imagine living in a country where tourism is an important component of the national economy and your national airline carrier doesnt fly to one of it's most important markets for 6 years.
After a six year hiatus with its two year EU imposed safety ban Garuda Indonesia has returned to the continent with flights to Amsterdam. Plans are underway to add service to Frankfurt, Paris, Rome and London.
For the nations long haul access there has been an overhang of reliance on hubs in Singapore, Bangkok and Australia for Bali bound Europeans. While Garuda is set to erase it's past issues, for many it will take time to overcome the damaged perception about airline safety.
There has been a collective sigh heard out of Bali though as hoteliers are welcoming back the increased airlift.
