So What's Up At GHM?
Despite pioneering the concept of boutique luxury hotels Singapore's GHM has seen mixed success over the past few years.
Exits at the Chedi Phuket, Yamu and the high profile Setai in Miami Beach were decided set-backs.
In the latest expansion drive the group will take over a hospitality-led residential project in Benoa Bali.
With 261 units (247 suites and 14 villas) the development has been sold over the past few years as the Ramada Sakala branded residences.
A high profile beach club across the road on the ocean was opened as the Sakala, and had tried to tap into the Ku De Ta and Potato Head crowd but never quite got going.
Now GHM is onboard with what is The Chedi Sakala and they will operate the entire complex.
Also in greater Bali the group have a real estate driven project on the go in Nusa Penida but it's unclear if residential sales will drive the project forward.
What is clear is the hotel brand development in Asia are embracing mixed use developments as a means to strengthen pipelines, which generally indicates the top end of a cycle is upon us.
