Thai Airways Says No To Low-Cost Airline

Mounting losses at legacy carrier Thai Airways International have forced it to put plans for a budget airline on the shelf.
An immediate priority is to shore up its existing poor financial results after a poor mid-year result and substantial shortfall in 2011.
Coming into focus will be the recently launched regional carrier Thai Smile which remains a question mark in terms of marketing position.
Thai's ownership stake in budget carrier Nok Air where is maintains a minority position looks set to be re-evaluated.
For now Asia's legacy national airlines are continuing to come under the gun by the fast developing low-cost sector.
