Upcoming Lao's destination Luang Prabang is getting a USD86.4 million upgrade which will be completed by 2013.
An additional runaway will allow both Airbus A320 and Boeing 737's to land while a substantial makeover of the existing passenger terminal.
Currently direct flights operate from Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia to the developing cultural tourism icon, but airlift has been constrained by smaller commuter aircraft only being able to use the existing runway.
