Just when you thought Phuket and Bali were the only resort destination's taking on mass tourism along comes the Maldives.
According to TTG Asia, the country is now considering a mid-scale strategy to spur broader growth.
With a 30% usage policy, the government is now contemplating pushing up building efficiency by developing multiple story hotels.
Once such project is Thumburi Integrated Resort Development which is developing a reported 200-room hotel and guesthouses.
Seems the Maldives is latching onto the growth bandwagon in similar fashion to many South East Asian destinations.
