PHUKET EARTHQUAKE Shaken Not Stirred
The day after what was thought to be a jolt from an aftershock in Sumatra yesterday afternoon turns out to be an earthquake in Phuket's Thalang District.
According to The Phuket News the first earthquake to occur was in Phuket with a 4.3 magnitude at 4:44pm. The news quoted the Thai Meteorlogical Department as the source of information.
This was closely followed by one in Northern Sumatra with a 5.5 magnitude.
For those on the island this most likely explains the sudden jolt that occurred here.
The story goes on to say that the scientists are saying last week's Sumatra quake has somehow triggers the Klong Marui fault which runs through Phuket, up to Phang Nga, Krabi and Surat Thani.
